Description originale
Inspired by Marcel Duchamp’s work, ‘Box in a Suitcase (o.1938)’, the proposed project serves two purposes : display and storage. The « box in a crate » is a gallery responsive to various exhibition intentions and art media. The gallery consists of 12 adjacent soft-hinged panels. Each panel can be used to display a work of art, which can be fixed to one side. The flexibility of the soft-hinge system allows spatial reconfiguration of the gallery. Thus, one space can be transformed to another depending on one’s exhibition intentions and the art media to be displayed.
