Erik Arlen was born in 1983 in Strasbourg. Although he has a graphic and graffiti background he decided to move to Paris to study industrial design. From 2005 to 2007, he worked closely with Aldebran-Robotics in Paris and co-designed the robot NAO with Thomas Knoll, which ended up being presented in 2010 at the world exhibition in Shanghai.

In 2007, he moved to the United States to work for Nike as a product and footwear designer. He started to work in the Tennis division by designing the shoes for top athletes like Rafael Nadal.
